WW2 M-1 Fixed Bale 2nd Lt Helmet Named Grouping
This is the first time this helmet is offered for sale on the open market, since it was purchased directly from the family in Kentucky.
As M-1 helmets go, this is a special one. It is a matched set, combat used, officer markings, identified and named in multiple areas and comes with related documents. The family passed on the story that the dent in the top of the helmet was caused by the vet using the helmet as mallet to bash tent pegs in the ground whilst in the ETO. I absolutely love the field used look to the helmet, especially the soap marks inside the shell.
Lt Luther Tate Watkins was an officer in the 1056th Engineer Port Construction and Repair Group, who were tasked with getting the naval infrastructure operational after the invasion and then repairing bridges and roadways throughout Europe to keep the allies advancing through Europe.
Another totally unique identified top shelf helmet.
